As a pioneer in solar thermal and solar electric system design, Gary is among a handful of early adopters who have worked in the solar energy community since the Carter Presidency. His 34+ years of experience in these fields serve as an invaluable resource for our Sun Light & Power engineering department and construction crews.
Gary has been teaching architects, engineers and homeowners about renewable energy systems for over 10 years, in classes held at the Building Education Center and Foothill/DeAnza College. He has been published twice in the Journal of Light Construction, writing featured articles about photovoltaics and solar hot water.
Since 1996, Gary has served on the Board of Directors of Architects/Designers/Planners for Social Responsibility and he is currently in his third term as President of the California Solar Energy Industry Association. He is also a co-founder of Build it Green, a statewide green building non-profit. Under Gary’s leadership, Sun Light & Power was recognized in 2008 in the SF Business Times Fast 100 list of Fastest Growing Private Companies, for the 5th year in a row.
